East River Frolick

Some dude managed to climb over the railing and down onto a small beach-like area of the East River in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge. Seeing someone splash around here is not an every day sight.

The Stonewall Inn

The Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village, all decked out for yesterday's annual Pride Parade. Stonewall is considered by many to be the birthplace of the gay rights movement in the USA. This year the parade took on special meaning with Friday's passage of a law legalizing same-sex marriage in New York.

Louise Nevelson Plaza

Louise Nevelson's sculptures are featured prominently on the plaza that bears her name. This is Maiden Lane & William Street, in the heart of the financial district. I shot this thru a store window while taking shelter from the rain.

Freedom Tower Rising

Looking west on Fulton Street towards the World Trade Center site where, 10 years after the terrorist attack, the new Freedom Tower is finally taking on some height!

Stuyvesant Cove

Small patch of moss-covered rock and sand extending out into the East River at Stuyvesant Cove around East 18th Street. The tall buildings on the other side of the river are in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

One of the narrow canyons of concrete & steel that wind through the financial district. This is William Street looking towards Wall Street.

Two Entrances

Two building entrances, only about 2 blocks apart. The first has seen better days - Hotel George Washington - saved from demolition by preservationists. The second looking mighty fine - Gramercy House - a beautiful art deco apartment building.

Scenes from the Celebrate Israel Parade

A few street scenes near yesterday's Celebrate Israel Parade at 5th Ave and Central Park South. (1) Flags outside The Plaza include an Israeli flag for the occasion; (2) NYPD eye in the sky keeping things safe; (3) Jew Hoos - love those shirts!
