Coenties Slip

Coenties Slip Park near the southern tip of Manhattan. This is just across the street from where I worked for a bunch of years (when I had a real job). And, no, after all these years I still don't know how to pronounce Coentis. The sculpture in the center is new and may actually be a water feature.

This is the first work by Chico (Antonio Garcia) that I ever saw. Most of the time when I pass by on the bus there are cars or trucks blocking portions. I got lucky this time. Sadly for us, Chico is rumored to have packed his paints & brushes and moved south to be closer to his family. You can see more of his East Village murals here, here and here.

I love these "people" in a garden on the Lower East Side (E. Houston Street). There were no signs that I could see so I don't know the name of the garden or of the artist.
