The NYPD boat P.O. Edward Byrne in the East River, just off E. 6th Street at East River Park. This was shot with a fairly long zoom lens which makes the midtown buildings and 59th Street Bridge in the background appear to be much closer than they really are. [NEX6-0423 acr(R)PScc]

Standing in an area where there seems to be endless new construction all around is this magnificent domed building - and some of its remaining "mature" neighbors - at Broadway & Driggs Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. [NEX6-1454 acr(R)PScc]

Taken about a month ago at the High Line in the Meatpacking / Chelsea area of Manhattan. There's always some interesting art on this billboard.

I went to the Apple Genius Bar at their Grand Central store on Saturday and wanted to take a photo of the main concourse to test my new 16mm f/2.8 prime lens + wide angle adapter. But I grabbed the wrong lens as I ran out the door so I needed to use my kit zoom lens (16-50mm) at 16mm instead. I wasn't happy with the results so I went back yesterday with the right lens + adapter and I'm much happier with this shot.

This is the FDR Drive at Grand Street, just before it curves around Corlears Hook and heads towards South Ferry. The layer of clouds passing overhead was too good to pass up. This is one of the first photos I took while testing my new NEX camera. So far I've been pleased with the results I'm getting. I'm even more happy that it doesn't break my back carrying it plus a lens or two... a huge difference between this and the larger, heavier Canon gear that resulted in back, neck & shoulder pain and numbness in my hand whenever I carried it.
