Gertel's Condo

Here's an updated look at the building (right, foreground) that's rising at the site of the old Gertel's Bakery on Hester Street near Essex Street. The safety netting that was wrapped around the lower floors two months ago is now gone and the exterior looks like it's done. I still miss those Gertel's rugelach!
