Gertel's Condo
Here's an updated look at the building (right, foreground) that's rising at the site of the old Gertel's Bakery on Hester Street near Essex Street. The safety netting that was wrapped around the lower floors two months ago is now gone and the exterior looks like it's done. I still miss those Gertel's rugelach!

At the southern end of Union Square - at 14th Street near Broadway - there's this building that has a weird clock on the front that blows out smoke.

New & Old New York
An updated view of a scene I posted in May 2008 - this time wider and from a lower vantage point - but, showing more of the new hi-rise construction that's slowly replacing the old Lower East Size landscape.
