TTW - The Cable Building

Taken thru a tinted taxi window - I've passed this building hundreds of times but never noticed this until getting stuck in traffic here yesterday. The Cable Building was built in the 1890s to house the generator plant which powered the cable cars that ran on Broadway at the time. Broadway & Houston Street, Manhattan.

TTW - Willow Steam Plant

Taken thru a hotel window (not the cleanest, either) in Philadelphia.... While playing with the zoom on my camera I saw this interesting building in the distance. It turns out to be an abandoned steam plant at 9th Street & Willow Street. I'm still trying to learn how to get "clean" shots at long focal lengths with this camera and I really should have used a tripod for this. Also lots of distance compression due to the long zoom. The zoom for this photo is the equivalent of about 440mm

1WTC Super Close

I dragged my T3i out for the first time in months and grabbed a close up from one of my usual Lower East Side vantage points using a long lens. The spire is still not topped off - this past Monday's top-off was postponed due to inclement weather. I haven't read anything official yet but the rumor is  that the remainder of the spire might be installed later today. I'll be watching for it!

New One World Trade Center Up Close

The new 1WTC building exterior is coming along nicely with siding installed almost all the way to the top. The huge spire up above is also well underway. Yesterday, the local news channels previewed the new 3-story observation center at the top of the building that will offer panoramic views when it opens in 2015.

Dishonored Taxis

From October - near Prince Street in the SoHo/Nolita area of lower Manhattan, NYC. I was playing with some new software trying to get a subtle HDR look without using multiple exposures. The 2nd photo is straight from the camera (with just some perspective correction) for comparison
