1WTC Super Close

I dragged my T3i out for the first time in months and grabbed a close up from one of my usual Lower East Side vantage points using a long lens. The spire is still not topped off - this past Monday's top-off was postponed due to inclement weather. I haven't read anything official yet but the rumor is  that the remainder of the spire might be installed later today. I'll be watching for it!

1WTC Progress

The siding is almost all the way up the side of the new One World Trade Center building and the spire is partially constructed up on top. To the left of 1WTC in the distance is the top of the Municipal Building and the Woolworth Building. Seen from Henry Street, Lower East Side, Manhattan.

FiDi Skyline

The Downtown Manhattan / Financial District skyline seen from the Lower East Side. Some buildings of note... left to right in the background: The green-topped building is (I'm almost sure) 40 Wall Street, AKA The Trump Building. The rectangular slab building to its right is One Chase Manhattan Plaza followed by the Verizon building (large whie building), New York by Gehry (aka 8 Spruce Street) with Four World Trade Center right behind it, still under construction. The building towards the right with the green roof is the Woolworth Building and, of course, the tallest building is One World Trade Center, still awaiting the arrival/installation of it's spire to top it off.

East Bway - WTC - Evening

I was walking around the neighborhood one evening and grabbed this snap. The Canon G1X does very well in low light although I may be seeing some camera shake here (it's hard for me to be sure these days - I never know if it's really in the photo or if it's my vision. I have a visit scheduled with the eye doctor next month). Anyway, this was taken at 1/25sec, f/5.8 at ISO 6400. I think the G1X is excellent for a compact camera and it's my new take-everywhere cam.

1 World Trade Center

I feel like I fell asleep and woke up a year later.... meanwhile... 1 World Trade Center has grown to be the tallest building in the city (for now, anyway) and it's little sister, 4 World Trade Center, has grown as well. This photo was taken 2 months ago.

East River - Downtown Skyline

A view of the East River from Corlears Hook to the downtown Manhattan skyline. The green area in the foreground is the southern end of East River Park at Corlears Hook, where the river makes an almost 90 degree turn. The building that looks like it has a rabbit ears antenna on top (far right skyline) is One World Trade Center (aka Freedom Tower) under construction.

Freedom Tower

Another look at Freedom Tower (aka One World Trade Center) being built at the site of the old WTC.
