Walking in Greenwhich Village, I came across this tangle of tree trunks and branches - bare just a few weeks ago, now filling out with color

Industry & Nature

This weekend I walkd thru the newly refurbished East River Park. At its northern end, the park environment (and new landscaping) abruptly turns industrial thanks to the neighboring Consolidated Edison (Con Ed) power plant. I came across these two scenes with contrasting elements of both environments

Winter Squirrel

I guess he doesn't mind sitting on snow. He seems to be enjoying his morning meal (whatever he's eating).

New Year's Eve Sky

After dumping tons of snow on us earlier in the week, Mother Nature treated us to a pretty decent sunset on the last eve of 2010. I guess that's her way of wishing us a happy new year!

Canopy of Trees

I love how these trees bend over to completely cover the sidewalk at Clinton and Stanton Streets. I wonder how long it will be before some developer comes along and builds on the lot that these trees live on. With all the development going on in this area, I'm guessing their days are numbered.

Spring on Grand Street

More spring color on the Lower East Side. These trees are on the grounds of the Seward Park cooperative on Grand Street.

Turning Green

It seems that with every passing hour, there's more green on the trees. They appear to follow some schedule, with some turning green sooner than others - just like in autumn, where some trees always manage to hang onto their leaves longer. I love watching the seasons change!

Monster Tree

These trees which line much of the perimeter of Stuyvesant Town remind me of the evil monster trees in The Wizard of Oz.

Spring Trees

I don't know what kind of trees these are. But, they're in bloom all over the neighborhood. Seeing them today reminded me how lucky we are to have so many trees lining our streets. Who said Manhattan was a concrete jungle? The first photo is looking north on Clinton Street towards Rivington; the 2nd is the corner of Clinton & Delancey at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge.

There are many things that mark the beginning of spring each year. On our block, this tree is the most visible.

Outside my window yesterday. Ok, so I cropped out the tops of the buildings across the street. But, looking at this, you'd think I lived on a farm or somewhere in the suburbs.
