Empire State Building
Always so much architectural details to see and marvel at when I stop to look- really look - at the Empire State Building.

Cleaning Up
If my arithmetic is correct, we've had snow on the ground for about 55 consecutive days in NYC, since Dec 26. It's almost all gone as of yesterday. Luckily, the Dept. of Sanitation (DSNY) has been able to switch back from snow clearance to trash pickup. This is outside the old Seward Park High School building on Essex Street between Grand & Broome - taken from a passing bus.

Stuyvesant Town Sky
Two from Stuyvesant Town around sundown last night under a busy sky - #1: an unusually empty First Avenue (for rush hour) and the seemingly endless buildings of Stuyvesant Town & Peter Cooper Village. #2: The moon peeking thru the clouds above one of the Stuy Town buildings. #1 is HDR (fusion) and #2 is HDR (tone mapping) + slight painterly effect

The Met
The Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center. The fronts of the steps, in the foreground, electronically display current and upcoming events, etc. I used HDR processing to be able to see thru the windows of The Met despite the bright daylight outside. Normally, I would not do this with so many people in the scene (moving people and multiple exposures don't really mix well because their positions change from exposure to exposure). But, I figured I'd get away with it in this case given how insignificant the people look against the larger subject behind them. There are a few "trouble" spots around some of the people. But, overall, I think it's an acceptable compromise in this case.

One of the different strains of Urban Balloon Tree that are native to NYC. This one is in the East Village.

Stuyvesant Town Ups & Downs
Every building at Stuy Town has two entrances, at opposite sides of the builidng. One is at street level while the other is one floor higher, with the grounds on that side of the building built up higher. This makes for some interesting landscaping with stairs and ramps throughout the property to get you to the different levels.

Bowling Green
Nothing green at Bowling Green this time of year. At the far end of the park is the stretch of Broadway known as the "Canyon of Heroes" (between here and City Hall) where "heroes" are sometimes honored with a ticker tape parade. Maybe this year will be the New York Mets' year to win the World Series and parade up the Canyon of Heroes? C'mon Mets!
