Stuy Town View Revisited

I posted a photo of a similar view back in January of this year. I was back here this weekend celebrating Thanksgiving. This time the weather was not as gloomy, and the lighting was better. I also added some HDR processing this time, using multiple exposures. Taken through a friend's window in Stuyvesant Town, looking south towards the part of the East Village known as Alphabet City.

Squirrel in a Tree

I'm not sure what this little guy is doing but he looks comfortable despite the cold and wind. This is outside my window.

Holiday Lights

Seasonal lighting is starting to appear around the city. This is a park at the East River co-op on Grand Street, Lower East Side.

Sheep Meadow

The ginormous Sheep Meadow at Central Park. There used to be sheep grazing here until Robert Moses (NYC Parks Commissioner) shipped them off to Brooklyn in the 1930s. Now, it's mostly people grazing here. First photo is looking east. Second photo is looking north.

MLK Jr. Community Garden Revisited

I posted a photo of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Garden at the Henry Street Settlement back in March. I stopped by again a few days ago and found the garden wearing its fall colors!

Autumn in Central Park

I climbed up on one of the rock hills in Central Park this weekend and saw this view looking out over the southwest corner of the park.

Corlears Hook Park

I'm convinced the trees in the Lower East Side are defective. Most don't bother turning colors before dropping their leaves on the ground. Or, at best, they turn brown and call it a season. But, I managed to find a few trees at Corlears Hook Park (Cherry Street & Jackson Street) that are putting on more of a show than the rest.

Trump SoHo

The new Trump SoHo on Spring Street, viewed here from the West Village. At over 40 floors high, it seems totally out of scale to its neighbors.
