Grand Street
Grand Street (near Allen Street) around sundown. Twenty years ago the store signs were mostly English and Hebrew. Twenty years from now the language on the signs will probably change again. That's been the pattern of the Lower East Side for decades as new waves of immigrants pass through, each adding to the diversity of this great neighborhood.

Stars of David
Another of those occasions where I "see" something new after looking at a building hundreds of times over the course of many years... the facade of this building is embellished with Stars of David (Jewish Stars) under some of its windows. I first noticed this earlier this month while touring the nabe with family - taking a walk down memory lane. This is on Orchard Street near Canal Street.

Bleecker Doorway
I was intrigued by the arthitectural details around this doorway somewhere on Bleecker Street (I'm guessing between Broadway and Lafayette Streets). The shadow on the left side of the doorway is not me. It's probably the guy who was attached to the other end of the dog's leash. I was passing by in a taxi.

Getting Closer
I took a walk over to the park along the FDR Drive and was happy to see that the waterfront promenade between the Williamsburg Bridge and the old firehouse looks like it's just about competed. All of the paving appears to be done and the benches are in place along the river's edge. This is a nice change from the original configuration which had the benches on the inland side of the promenade. It will be nice to have this section of the park open again.
