The Daniel Potkorony Building. I've walked past this building hundreds of times over the last 20 years and never noticed it until today. It's very narrow, set back pretty far from the street, and sandwiched between two larger buildings - the Bialystoker Synagogue (left) and another building.

I love these "people" in a garden on the Lower East Side (E. Houston Street). There were no signs that I could see so I don't know the name of the garden or of the artist.

Hamilton Fish Play Center built around 1900 & still serving the Lower East Side community. Behind the building, which houses a gymnasium, are a park and outdoor swimming pool - all open to the public.

Snow Tree!

2 for 1 - since I haven't posted in a while. The first is deliberately deceptive. It looks like we had a lot of snow. The buildings are across the East River along the Williamsburg (Brooklyn) waterfront. The snow here on the Manhattan side of the river was actually man-made, for an upcoming Snow Boarding Contest on Feb 5 at East River Park (Houston Street & FDR Drive). The 2nd photo shows the ramp that was built (on freight containers) for the event.
