Tom Otterness - By now it should be no surprise that I'm a big fan of his work (I've posted samples of his works here and here). I passed by the playground at Houston St & Essex Street and was delighted to see what looked like his work. But, I was skeptical - only because of the location. A few minutes on Google resulted in this confirmation.

Buckminster Fuller's Fly's Eye Dome on display at LaGuardia Place, near Washington Square Park. "The Fly's Eye Domes are designed as components of a 'livingry' service. The basic hardware components will produce a beautiful, fully equipped, air-deliverable house that weighs and costs about as much as a good automobile."

Before and after... The building under construction at 23rd Street & Madison Ave - and the crane - have both grown in the year since I posted the earlier photo.

I walked past Blue this evening and I realized that its presence no longer bothers me nearly as much as it used to.

A true New Yorker - the top of the New Yorker Hotel at 34th Street and 8th Ave. I've never stayed here, but, I've attended numerous computer user group meetings at Gotham NYPC, which lives at the New Yorker.

Statues of Liberty on Parade plus a Surprise. This started out being about another one of the Statues on Parade. But, as I was cropping the photo of the Florida Marlins statue, I noticed the name above the building entrance next door - the Westinghouse Building. I've walked past this building on a regular basis for nearly 30 years and never noticed this! So, thanks, Florida Marlins statue on parade, for helping me see a bit of history that I might have never noticed!
