This former patch of concrete - about 20 feet wide by 1 city block long - was transformed into a garden with a variety of shrubs and flowers, plus a winding path.

I liked the shadows cast by the tree against the side of this building.

3-for-1: The owners of Stuyvesant Town & Peter Cooper Village announced the planting of 10,000 new trees and thousands of shrubs and flowers, in what is probably one of the largest single landscaping projects in Manhattan. On a walk thru 80 acre site I saw all kinds of trees, flowers and shrubs - in all shapes and sizes - lined up, waiting to be planted.

A Hitchcock moment

I posted a photo taken at this spot about a month ago, when there were very early signs of color. This tiny garden looks a lot different today. This is at Ahearn Park, on Grand Street.

A "cool" way to get around town. I was using a more modest method of travel - a NYC Transit bus. This car pulled alongside us at traffic light.

Power to the People! An ugly corner of the East Village thanks to the ConEd power station. I know, nobody wants a power plant in their backyard. But, everyone wants the power it generates - and more and more of it all the time.

2-for-1: Two of the many sculptures by Tom Otterness installed at the subway station at 14th Street & 8th Ave. I previously posted another work by Otterness at Battery Park City. But, the subway exhibit, Life Underground, includes one my favorites of his - the gator (or is it a crock?) coming out of the manhole grabbing the kid.
